Middle East and North African countries meet to work on competition and consumer protection policies

The need to develop competitive markets and to embrace consumer protection values was highlighted during a regional workshop to mark the inception phase of a programme on competition and consumer policies for the Middle East and North African (MENA) region in Agadir, Morocco on 27-29 July 2015.
UNCTAD helps Haiti's port officials improve their skills as the port at Port-au-Prince is rebuilt

As reconstruction of the port at Port-au-Prince, the capital of Haiti, presses on after a devastating earthquake in 2010, UNCTAD's TrainForTrade programme is offering training to Haitian instructors so that they can in turn train up port officials.
Promoting fish exports from Least Developed Countries

UNCTAD is to organize a training and capacity building Workshop in Moroni, Comoros, from 28 to 30 July 2015. The workshop is part of UNCTAD's project titled: Building the capacities of selected Least Developed Countries to upgrade and diversify their fish exports.

United Nations member States to review the "UN Set" on competition for the seventh time

United Nations member States are meeting from 6-10 July 2015 in Geneva to reaffirm the validity of the only multilateral instrument adopted by the UN General Assembly in the area of Competition Policy, the so-called UN Set on competition. This instrument was adopted in 1980 and member States have reaffirmed its validity six times.
Government of Kyrgyzstan and UNCTAD discuss investment policy

Four investment promotion agencies (IPAs) have received top accolades for "excellence in web-based promotion of green foreign direct investment (FDI)" at the UNCTAD Investment Promotion Awards. The awards were presented on 20 April 2015 during the seventh session of UNCTAD's Investment, Enterprise and Development Commission.
Competition and consumer protection fact-finding missions to the Middle East and North Africa region

UNCTAD organized fact-finding visits to Egypt, Jordan and Lebanon from 16 to 25 March, in order to assess the national and regional needs of the countries benefiting from UNCTAD's COMPAL MENA programme.
