Online training on current approaches to STI policymaking in the context of SDGs targeting Latin American countries – sub-national perspectives

10 - 12 May 2021
5-7 pm CEST

Sound and inclusive STI policies are needed to achieve the SDGs. Many regions and countries need to build capacity in STI policy to strengthen their national STI systems and thus foster STI for addressing the pressing health, economic and social challenges of the pandemic crisis.

The purpose of this training designed by the UN Interagency Task Team on STI for the SDGs (IATT)  is to build awareness and understanding concerning crucial aspects of STI policies and instruments and innovation and entrepreneurship processes and how they relate to the SDGs.

The sessions aim to engage policymakers at national and sub-national levels from Latin American countries in interactive discussions and practical reflection on existing approaches, case studies, and national experiences to promote and manage STI for the SDGs.

The training

A three-day online training and interactive discussion with UN agencies on key Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) policy and policy instruments aspects, as well as innovation and entrepreneurship processes and how they relate to the SDGs.

The training will be held from 10 to 12 May 2021, targeting policymakers from Latin American countries to strengthen national STI systems and foster STI to achieve the SDGs.

The IATT organizes the training to mobilize STI solutions for attaining the SDGs. UNCTAD, as part of the IATT Work, is taking action on building capacity through training courses and workshops on STI Policy for SDGs addressed to policymakers and key STI managers from developing countries.
