UNCTAD's work with International Commodity Bodies (ICBs)
Cooperation occurs through international commodity agreements (ICAs) and international study groups (ISGs), which are recognized by the Common Fund for Commodities (CFC) as eligible for support. ICBs operate as autonomous legal entities with their own rules and a governing board.
UNCTAD collaborates with ICBs, the FAO, and the CFC to provide assistance and leverage their expertise on commodities. Many ICAs and ISGs originated from UN Conferences organized by UNCTAD, which also convenes meetings related to these agreements.
UNCTAD holds observer status in all ICBs.
