
The Eurasian Regional Partnership on Sustainability Reporting and SDGs (ERP) is established in response to paragraph 7 of the agreed conclusions of the Report of the Intergovernmental Working Group of Experts on International Standards of Accounting and Reporting on its fortieth session, which includes the establishment of UNCTAD-ISAR partnerships in a number of regions, including the Eurasian region.
The ERP was officially launched on 21.03.2024 at the regional event ‘Towards Integrated National Financing Frameworks: Implementing sustainable normative tools in Eastern Europe, Western Balkans, Caucasus and Central Asia’ at the Palais des Nations, Geneva, Switzerland.

Framework
Objectives of the Partnership
The Partnership is established to support its member organisations in their efforts to implement international standards, codes and best practices to promote harmonization and improve the quality of enterprise reporting for financial stability, international and domestic investment, and socio-economic progress.
The Partnership will act as a bridge between national and international sustainability reporting institutions, carrying the voice of Eurasian countries.
The main objective of the Partnership is to facilitate mutual support of Eurasian countries in their efforts to develop national strategies and policies for:
- establish and/or strengthen the national infrastructure, i.e., the regulation, institutions and human capacity to prepare high-quality sustainability reports by companies;
- measure the contribution of the private sector to the implementation of the SDGs;
- promote sustainable enterprise development;
- provide support in the implementation of the international sustainability reporting standards;
- provide a regional voice in interaction with international standard setters;
- promote benchmarking activities between actors, provide advice, and facilitate the dissemination and adoption of reporting methodologies;
- promote harmonization in the region by sharing case studies and experiences to address national challenges, alongside tools to optimize national infrastructure and mitigate risks that could hinder the economy.
Stakeholders of the Partnership
The stakeholders of the Partnership are:
- the local financial reporting standard setter;
- the government entity in charge of the implementation of the SDGs;
- the entity responsible for sustainability reports;
- stock exchange;
- professional accounting association;
- and other interested parties.
Stakeholders may participate in the Partnership as members or observers.
Role of UNCTAD-ISAR in the Partnership
UNCTAD-ISAR acted as the original convener of the Partnership, providing initial support for its creation. After the establishment of the Partnership, UNCTAD-ISAR continues providing support as follows:
- opening opportunities in its forums, to listen to the challenges and needs of the region in terms of sustainability reports, as well as to monitor achievements and progress;
- opening opportunities to participate in forums with other regions of the world, that allow to share experiences in terms of sustainability reports;
- inviting the members of the Partnerships to capacity building workshops on sustainability reports, as well as making available its materials, guidance, and tools;
- assisting in the identification of technical assistance needs.
Joining the Partnership
Each country in the Partnership is represented by one to five national organisations (members) of key stakeholders.
To formalise the membership, the interested party sends a letter in Russian and English in the form established by the Partnership to the Partnership Chairman at the Partnership Secretariat: o.bernatskaya@cpa.org.ru, o.bernatskaya@eicpa.org.
The Partnership Secretariat will inform the Partnership Chairman about the receipt of the interested party's letter. The issue of admitting the interested party to the Partnership membership will be considered at the next meeting of the Partnership members. If a decision is made to admit an interested party to Partnership membership, information about that interested party will be entered into the Partnership Membership Register.

The partnership has been signed by 13 members representing 6 countries.
