
At its 1236th meeting, on 16 September 2024, in accordance with past practice, the Trade and Development Board established the Preparatory Committee for the sixteenth session of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development and elected the President of the Trade and Development Board as its Chair.
The Board tasked the Preparatory Committee with the substantive preparatory process leading towards the Conference.
First reading of the Chairman's negotiating text
The first reading will be an opportunity for the respective groups as well as individual delegations to explain their reactions to the Chairman's negotiating text as well as to present their proposed amendments to the text.
The outcome will be a compilation text that will include all of the proposals presented at the first reading. This compilation text will serve as the basis for further negotiations leading to UNCTAD 16.
In order to facilitate the first reading, all groups and individual delegations intending to present proposals at the first reading are requested to e-mail their contributions in Microsoft Word to correspondence@unctad.org not later than noon on Monday, 5 May 2025.
If necessary, the first reading will continue on 15 May and, if needed, 16 May 2025 in room XXVI of the Palais des Nations.
