On March 17, 2023 the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) in cooperation with the State Service for Regulation and Supervision of the Financial Market of Kyrgyz Republic organized the final National Consultative Meeting on the implementation of the 13th Tranche of the Development Account entitled "Towards Integrated National Financing Framework". The meeting was dedicated to presenting results of the assessment of the reporting infrastructure in the country that was conducted with support of the UNCTAD Accounting Development Tool (ADT). It also helped to introduce recommendations for planning the next steps in the development of accounting and reporting in the country.
The 13th tranche project aims to support individual countries in mobilizing and aligning funding with national sustainable development priorities, in particular in the context of addressing the significant impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on both financial needs and the availability of public and private financing for sustainable development.
The project supports several ongoing activities on the Integrated National Financing Frameworks (INFF), both at the national and regional levels. Several beneficiary countries have been nominated to implement the project in the CIS region, including Kyrgyzstan.
Mr. Ulan Sarbanov, Chairman of the State Service for Regulation and Supervision of the Financial Market of Kyrgyzstan delivered opening remarks by thanking all the participants and noting the importance of the UNCTAD project for assessing the country's potential in the area of accounting as well as providing and orientation towards high-level financial and sustainability reporting. Ms. Elena Botvina, Economic Affairs Officer at UNCTAD shared an overview on the overall progress of the project implementation in the country, while a team of the UNCTAD consultant presented the final scores and recommendations for discussion with the key project stakeholders.
The meeting was attended by more than 30 stakeholders, including representatives of the government, the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Ministry of Finance, the Accounting Chamber, professional accounting organizations, auditors, the Stock Exchange of the Kyrgyz Republic, banking sector, insurance sector, academia as well as experts in the field of corporate social responsibility and SDGs, including experts of the national statistical bodies.
Since 2022 within the framework of the 13th Tranche of the Development Account Project UNCTAD has also organized the Workshop on Enterprise Sustainability and SDG impact reporting as well as the Training for Trainers on the SME Accounting in Kyrgyzstan.
