The UNCTAD Secretariat has the honour to inform member States that a briefing will be held by Mr. John Toye, a consultant who is currently preparing a publication on the historical, current and future role of UNCTAD to mark the fiftieth anniversary of UNCTAD in June 2014.
The briefing will be held in room XXVI on 5 November from 2 p.m. to 3.30 p.m. Member States are also informed that interpretation will unfortunately not be available during this briefing.
The final chapter of one of Mr. Toye’s publications, The UN and Global Political Economy: Trade, Finance and Development (2004), is attached to provide member States with an indication of his views, at that time, on the future of global economic governance and the role of UNCTAD therein. His biography is also attached for ease of reference.
