The capacity-building workshop is a practical training and stakeholder dialogue activity aimed at supporting producers, agro-processors, exporters and relevant institutions in Trinidad and Tobago to better understand standards, certification, traceability, market access requirements and available support mechanisms.
It will be held in collaboration with the Ministry of Trade, Investment and Tourism of Trinidad and Tobago, under the UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD) Development Account project “Harnessing Trade Policy and Transport and Logistics to Build Sustainable and Resilient Food Supply Chains in the Caribbean and the Arab Region”.
Building on the national assessment, the December 2025 National Validation Workshop and follow-up consultations held in Trinidad and Tobago, the workshop seeks to strengthen the capacity of national stakeholders to use standards and certification as tools to enhance agri-food competitiveness, food security and supply chain resilience.
The workshop is expected to improve understanding of certification pathways and market requirements, strengthen coordination among relevant institutions, and identify priority value chains and practical follow-up actions for more resilient and competitive agri-food supply chains in Trinidad and Tobago.
