Stock exchanges and their regulators play a critical role in fostering financial innovation that supports climate-positive initiatives and promotes climate action among companies.
By developing climate-aligned products, services, and regulations, exchanges can enhance the climate resilience of their markets. They also play a key role in facilitating the adoption of climate-aligned standards and disseminating climate-related information across financial markets. Exchanges can drive the transformation of markets toward a net-zero future by implementing guidelines, benchmarks, and educational initiatives.
Key areas of focus include:
- Aligning climate-related disclosures with global standards, including providing customized guidance and training for issuers.
- Innovating new climate-aligned products and services, such as Voluntary Carbon Markets (VCMs).
- Leveraging financial market service providers’ market role to accelerate the transition to net-zero emissions economies.
