A discussion between researchers, policy makers, investors and innovators, about how trade can realise Climate Positive Growth – inclusive economic growth for emerging and developing countries through climate action.

The discussion will showcase the potential for transformative growth, share examples of successful activities, and discuss what key changes will be needed to accelerate, deepen, and expand this trend.

Dr. Amelia U. Santos-Paulino is Chief of the Investment Research Section Chief of Investment Issues and Analysis Section at UNCTAD’s Division on Investment and Enterprise, and Deputy Editor of the Transnational Corporations Journal.

Previously, she was a Senior Economist at UNCTAD’s Africa, Least Developed Countries and Special Programmes Division. Before joining UNCTAD, she was Research Fellow and Project Director in the United Nations University’s World Institute for Development Economics Research (UNU-WIDER) in Helsinki, Professorial Research Fellow in the University of Sussex’s Institute of Development Studies, and Senior Research Economist in the Central Bank of the Dominican Republic.

She served as Senior Adviser of the Dominican Republic’s Government on International Trade and Investment for the negotiations of the US-DR-CAFTA Free Trade Agreement, amongst other full-time posts within the civil service and academia of the Dominican Republic. She has also held visiting posts at the University of California, Davis, the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva, Fudan University in Shanghai, and the Asian Development Bank Institute in Tokyo.

Her work has been published in journals including the Economic Journal, Cambridge Journal of Economics, and World Development, and has also edited books published by Oxford University Press and Cambridge University Press.
She holds PhD and MA degrees in Economics from the University of Kent in the UK.

Pervez N. Ghauri

Pervez N. Ghauri is Professor of International Business at Birmingham Business School, University of Birmingham. From September 2015 to March 2018, he was Director of PhD Programmes. This role entailed, management, education and policy issues for all (150) PhD students and supervisors in the school. The programme was reorganized to introduce several new policy issues.

His current research includes the MNEDEVELOP project, which is examining how Multinationals from advanced markets can contribute to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by creatively serving disadvantaged communities in emerging markets, and create competitive advantage at the same time.

Professor Ghauri was founding Editor in Chief for International Business Review (IBR) and Consulting Editor for Journal of International Business Studies (JIBS) since 2017, and is a Fellow of AIB and EIBA. He is an academic adviser and keynote speaker for several universities and institutions and has appeared on many TV and social media channels across the academic discipline and industry, including:

Nadia Paleari

Nadia Paleari is a Brand and Business Growth Consultant. She holds a B.A. in International Relations and a Masters in Cultural Diplomacy. 

As a professional, she combines the international sphere of her background with a passion for communication and marketing. 

In 2019 she joined UNCTAD Youth Network, with the aim of bringing young professionals to discuss and collaborate with institutions in drafting proposals for a sustainable future for all. She is speaker and panelist to events and initiatives in the context of the implementation of the United Nations 2030 Agenda, including: Cordillera Youth Movers Program 2020 (Philippines), LCOY 2019 (Florence), World Climate Congress 2021 (Nepal). 

In 2021 she became Visiting Professor for the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart (Rome, Italy) and the IED (European Institute of Design, Milan). 

She is a member of UNFCCC YOUNGO (United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change) and in September 2021 she became Project Officer of the Global Events and Partnerships Team at SDSN Youth.
