Distance Learning Course for the Caribbean on Legal Aspects of E-Commerce

​As part of its mandate on ICT for Development, UNCTAD has been since 2000 the leading capacity-building provider within the United Nations system supporting the preparation of legal frameworks for e-commerce through the E-Commerce and Law Reform Programme and the TrainForTrade Programme.
Considering the importance of building capacity of experts on the legal issues raised by e-commerce, the Latin America and Caribbean Economic System (SELA) and the Association of Caribbean States (ACS) are funding the next  distance-learning course on legal aspects of e-commerce. The 5 week course will be for the first time delivered to government officials and main stakeholders of English Speaking Caribbean countries.

 
It is expected to contribute to improve their capabilities in the development of the legal framework for ICT and e-commerce.
 
The distance learning course has been delivered in many developing regions, and several times in Latin America,  with a view to enhance the capacities of lawmakers, government officials and other stakeholders in all aspects to be considered for the drafting of electronic commerce laws.
At the end of this  distance learning  course, participants will be able to:
• To analyze a wide range of regulatory issues that concern e-commerce as well as new developments and scope of e-commerce issues in Latin America and the Caribbean region;
• To exchange experiences and knowledge on harmonization aspects of e-commerce, and;
• To formulate and implement e-commerce legislation.
