Body

Launched at FfD4 as an initiative under the Seville Platform for Action (SPA), the Beyond GDP Global Alliance is a coalition of countries and partners committed to embedding multidimensional development metrics into international cooperation.

This Alliance will connect to existing UN high-level expert group’s Beyond GDP efforts to foster convergence, facilitate learning, and, especially, to create pathways for countries and institutions to advance the uptake of more comprehensive metrics of sustainable development into policy and financing strategies.

The first plenary meeting of the Beyond GDP Global Alliance marks the formal start of its operational phase.

The meeting will bring together members and interested countries and stakeholders to discuss the Alliance’s objectives, which include promoting the use of Beyond GDP metrics in development finance, international co-operation and national policymaking, and fostering a shared understanding of how these measures can complement traditional economic indicators.

The meeting will outline the Alliance’s proposed governance approach and intended areas of work during its first year, highlighting how countries and partners can collectively support the wider uptake of multidimensional measures of progress. It will also provide an opportunity to explore how the Alliance can contribute to advancing the recommendations of the UN High-Level Expert Group on Beyond GDP (HLEG), helping translate its proposals into practical tools, capacity development and policy applications.

A draft roadmap of activities for Year 1 (April 2026 – April 2027), developed based on a proposed Action Plan and consultations with Alliance members, will also be presented for discussion during the meeting.
