06:00 - 07:00 hrs.

On 15 July, UNCTAD will participate in the high-level policy session Implementation of the WSIS Action Lines in Covid-19 Response and SDG Decade of Action, organized in the context of the High-Level Political Forum 2020 (HLPF).

This session, organized jointly by the United Nations Group on the Information Society (UNGIS) and the Communications and Information Technology Commission of Saudi Arabia, will consider strategic ways in which governments and partners are leveraging ICTs during the pandemic, raising key challenges and gaps; and, exploring ways forward for recovery and building back better, identifying digital capacities to prioritize based on needs on the ground, and the synergies necessary to support those.

UNCTAD is the UNGIS Chair for 2020–2021 and will be represented by Ms. Shamika N. Sirimanne, Director, Division on Technology and Logistics.
