The UN Trade and Development secretariat invites delegates of member States to join the informative session on the first governing council meeting of the Borrowers’ Platform. The meeting will take place on 8 September 2026, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., in room XVI at the Palais des Nations in Geneva.
The Borrowers’ Platform is a Member State–led initiative established under paragraph 48 (i) of the Sevilla Commitment, that may be used for borrower countries to “discuss technical issues, share information and experiences in addressing debt challenges, increase access to technical assistance and capacity-building in debt management, coordinate approaches and strengthen borrower countries’ voices in the global debt architecture”.
This event is intended for delegates of member States and presents a unique opportunity to gain critical insights and have questions addressed regarding the Borrowers’ Platform and its first governing council meeting, which will take place in October 2026 in Bangkok.
