Illicit Financial Flows (IFFs) undermine governments’ ability to mobilize resources needed for sustainable, long-term development. They also obstruct efforts to achieve effective economic transformation across the continent. While many countries globally have made progress in addressing IFFs, the implementation of key policies remains limited.
The primary objective of this project is to enhance statistical capacity for measuring tax-related and commercial IFFs, and to support the development of evidence-based policy responses aimed at reducing these flows.
As the project draws to a close, project participants will meet in Addis Ababa to share lessons learnt, how measurement can inform policy and the way forward. UN Trade and Development together with Burkina Faso and Senegal, will participate in a session with the main objective to share key insights from the policy aspect of the project. The policy session is scheduled to take place on 23 September 2026.
