The Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs of Indonesia, UNCTAD and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) are jointly organizing a Kick-Off Meeting for the online course “Trade and Entrepreneurship in Indonesia from a gender and development perspective”.
The objectives of the event are as follows:
- Increasing awareness and understanding of the importance of developing and implementing gender-responsive policies to support a transformative entrepreneurship ecosystem for SMEs in Indonesia, especially for women entrepreneurs;
- Presenting the main findings of the UNCTAD/ADB study “Trade and entrepreneurship in Indonesia from a gender and development perspective”;
- Sharing the objectives, timeline and scope of the UNCTAD online course “Trade and Entrepreneurship in Indonesia from a gender and development perspective”, which will be delivered in Bahasa from 13 November to 16 December 2023. The course will involve around 100 Indonesian stakeholders, including policymakers, government officials, and representatives of the academia, the private sector and civil society organizations. It is meant to enhance participants’ knowledge and understanding of the links between trade policy, entrepreneurship and women’s economic empowerment, and to support the development of gender-responsive economic policy and legal frameworks.
