Artificial Intelligence is already reshaping the way trade and supply chains work. It has now become essential to turn its potential into practical solutions rendering trade procedures more streamlined and cost-efficient.
UN Trade and Development’s new online course, “Harnessing Artificial Intelligence for Smarter Trade Facilitation and Efficient Supply Chains”, starting 27 October 2026, will explore real-world AI applications in customs, supply chains and trade facilitation; present the foundations needed for successful adoption, and show how AI can be implemented effectively and responsibly.
This first edition of the course, delivered in English, is designed for customs and border officials, trade and supply chain practitioners, National Trade Facilitation Committee representatives, and the next generation of trade professionals aiming to learn more on this emerging technology and looking to exchange with sector experts.
Upon successful completion of the course, participants will:
- Become familiar with the history of AI;
- Grasp how ethical AI can benefit trade and supply chains;
- Analyze the applications of AI in trade facilitation;
- Understand the shortcomings of AI, as well as the challenges to apply or develop the technology;
- Examine the importance of applying an international AI governance reinforced by national policies;
- Discover potential future uses of AI;
The opening ceremony will introduce the course, highlighting its key components, objectives, timeline, and evaluation system, as well as the trade facilitation e-learning platform where participants will complete the online self-paced course.
