Module 1: Operationalization of Benin’s Trade Facilitation Committee and implementation of international standards and recommendations for Trade Facilitation

​This is the second module of the UNCTAD Empowerment Programme for National Trade Facilitation Committees (NTFCs) organized within the framework of the “Transparent Trade Procedures in the region of the Economic Community of West African” project funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), represented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).

The event will address the members of the Trade Facilitation Committee of Benin. The objectives are:
- To support Benin in the elaboration of the terms of reference and action plan of the NTFC;
- To improve the knowledge of NTFC’s members on trade facilitation international standards and legal framework, including the Agreement on Trade Facilitation (TFA) of the World Trade Organization (WTO);
- To inform members of the NTFCs about the next steps after the entry into force of the WTO TFA;
- To define the roles of the NTFC regarding the transparency obligations in the WTO TFA, including the establishment of Trade Portals.
- To increase the understanding of NTFC’s members on methods and techniques to simplify procedures.
