03 - 07 October 2016

On Monday, 3 October 2016, the new on-line course on Trade in Services Statistics for LDCs will take off with the first module on the Importance of Statistics on International Trade in Services. The course was developed by UNCTAD/TrainForTrade (TFT) in collaboration with UNCTAD/Stats and WTO.

The main objectives of this new course are to raise awareness of Trade in Services Statistics and relevant concepts, enhance statisticians' capacity to do their work, and help them better understand the Manual on Statistics of International Trade in Services published by the Department of Economic and Social Affairs of the United Nations (MSITS 2010). The course includes 6 distance learning modules with interactive assessments and links to communication tools for online interaction. The first module is delivered online by Mr. Thierry Coulet (Consultant, UNCTAD). The rest of the online modules will be taught by Ms. Sanja Blazevic (UNCTAD), Ms. Barbara D'Andrea Adrian (WTO), Mr. Francois Brunet (Banque de France), and Mr. Andrea Carboni (Banca d'Italia). Mr. Dominique Chantrel (UNCTAD) will moderate the sessions.

24 statisticians and data users (8 women) from developing countries in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean and the Pacific will benefit from this training.
