Online course

The online course is offered in Bahasa over a period of five weeks, from 13 November to 17 December 2023. The course targets stakeholders in Indonesia, particularly policymakers, academics from universities and research centres, and representatives of civil society involved in policy formulation and implementation, research, teaching, advocacy or field work in the area of trade and gender.

Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to achieve the following objectives:

  • Look at the economy of Indonesia from a gender perspective
  • Identify the channels through which trade affects women’s economic empowerment and well-being, and the channels through which gender inequality affects trade performance and competitiveness Illustrate how trade integration has influenced gender outcomes in selected economic sectors in Indonesia
  • Identify initiatives and measures that allow mainstreaming gender considerations in trade and entrepreneurship policies
  • Learn from other countries‘ experiences on gender mainstreaming in trade and entrepreneurship policies
  • Be familiar with the ongoing debate and rulemaking on trade and gender at the multilateral, regional and bilateral levels
  • Use the knowledge acquired to produce policy-oriented research and strategies that could be used by national and regional policymakers, and academic papers investigating the interplay between trade and gender

Participants in this course are nominated by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises of Indonesia.

This course is organized with the support of the Asian Development Bank.
