Participation of UNCTAD at the 8th edition of the ASEAN Competition Conference (ACC) “Attaining Milestones and Addressing Challenges”

14 - 15 November 2019
Raffles Hotel Le Royal, Phnom Penh
Phnom Penh
, Cambodia

The ASEAN Competition Conference (ACC) is a key competition forum that has been convened since 2011 as a platform to highlight and discuss important competition developments in the ASEAN competition landscape.

The 8th ACC is taking place at an especially momentous time for ASEAN as almost all the 10 ASEAN Member States (AMS) have competition laws in place, with the remaining AMS in the process of introducing its law.
This is in just over ten years since ASEAN’s commitment to have competition laws was first inscribed in the AEC Blueprint 2007. With this milestone achievement, it is appropriate that ASEAN takes the opportunity of this Conference and to address the challenges of the next ten years towards improving the competition environment and moving towards cooperation and convergence.

UNCTAD has been invited to participate to share its experiences on two panel discussions:  (1) latest developments related to control of cartels and challenges faced by developing countries; (2) the future of convergence of national competition laws in the ASEAN region.
Co-organizer(s):
The ASEAN Secretariat & CAMCONTROL (Cambodia)
Sponsor / funding:
GIZ Project on “Promotion of Competitiveness within the Framework of the Initiative for ASEAN Integration” (COMPETE)
