Preparatory Committee for UNCTAD 15 (2nd Session)

On behalf of the President of the Trade and Development Board, H.E. Mr. Federico Villegas (Argentina), the UNCTAD secretariat has the pleasure to inform member States that the second session of the Preparatory Committee for UNCTAD 15 (Prepcom) will take place from 22 to 26 February 2021. At this session it is expected that the Prepcom to complete the first reading of the draft negotiating text.

As agreed at the Extended Bureau meeting on 12 January 2021, and given that a physical meeting is not possible, the Prepcom will meet for the First Reading in a virtual format using a remote platform with interpretation.

Groups and delegations are required to submit their proposed amendments to the secretariat no later than Wednesday, 17 February 2021 to allow time for consolidation into a master compilation.

The secretariat will show all amendments on-screen, paragraph by paragraph, during the meeting. Interventions by groups and delegations on the respective paragraphs would be to explain their proposed amendments. Interventions would also have to be far more concise and go straight to the point with each paragraph.

Due to the limitations imposed by UNOG on virtual meetings with interpretation, the Prepcom would meet daily from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., and then from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
