The Conference presented the results of the project launched in January 2014 with the objective of demonstrating the potential of cultural and creative industries (CCIs) to contribute to inclusive and sustainable growth in the Southern Mediterranean Region and strengthen the competitiveness of the sector by applying the cluster methodology.
Thirteen clusters were selected in the seven beneficiary countries of the Southern Mediterranean (Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, the State of Palestine and Tunisia) to receive the technical assistance of the project in key areas such as: improvement in cost and quality competitiveness, production capacity, development of design capacities to respond to international markets, business linkages and access to new markets.
UNCTAD was invited to share its experience and to share some trends on the international trade flows of creative goods in the region.
An exhibition of the 13 clusters was held in paralel to the event.
