Regional Economic Organizations Webinar on Competition Law and Policy

26 May 2021
14:00 - 16:00 hrs. (CET)
Online

UNCTAD recognizes that regional economic organizations with competence over competition law and policy hold great potential for both developed and developing jurisdictions by promoting convergence in competition legal frameworks and investigative tools and ensuring effective cross-border enforcement within the regions. However, serious obstacles - rarely discussed at international fora - can undermine these benefits, even if the number of such regional organizations has been steadily increasing.

Therefore, UNCTAD organizes a webinar to allow for the sharing of experiences between these organizations, including their achievements and challenges. Representatives from regional economic organisations with competence over competition law and policy will share their experiences and discuss some specific aspects such as the interaction and cooperation between regional and national competition authorities, case allocation, and best practices and recommendations in the enforcement of competition provisions.

This webinar is not open to the public and it is by invitation only.
