Promoting green transformation and sustainable development through industrial or productive development policies and regional cooperation
UNCTAD, together with ECLAC and the Mexican Ministry of Economy, are joining forces to organize a regional workshop that will serve to forge a strategic policy platform aimed at defining key priorities in green productive development policy and fostering consensus in the LAC region.
As part of the Regional Integration and Industrial Policy for Transformational Change and Resilience in Latin America project, this regional workshop will lay the groundwork for a series of national workshops aimed at strengthening the capacity of policymakers to design and implement strategies that promote green industrial or productive development policies and facilitate the effective integration of strategic sectors into regional value chains.
Objectives
The main objective of the regional workshop is to strengthen the intergovernmental and public-private dialogue necessary for the design and implementation of green industrial or productive development policies. This dialogue will serve as a cornerstone for the creation of a transformative regional agenda aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), promoting environmental sustainability, inclusive growth, and economic resilience.
The workshop aims to:
- Strengthen consensus among participating countries on key policy priorities for green productive transformation and regional integration.
- Promote coordinated policy actions that enhance the integration of regional value chains and accelerate the transition to green and sustainable economies.
- Explore the need to establish governance frameworks that enable coordinated regional efforts in industrial or green productive development policies.
- Examine issues related to industrial or green productive development policies and regional integration to identify key perspectives for ongoing studies, as well as for potential future research on strategic sectors and value chains.
