Seminar on Competition and Consumer Protection for Botswana Tribunal Members

24 - 25 March 2021
Online

Following the voluntary peer review of competition law and policy of Botswana conducted by UNCTAD in 2018, the country established a new Authority, Competition and Consumer Authority (CCA) in December 2019, combining the mandates of the old Competition Authority and the Consumer Protection Unit which used to function under the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry.

Botswana also established the Competition and Consumer Tribunal and requested UNCTAD to organize a virtual seminar on competition and consumer protection for the new Tribunal members.

The seminar is organized with the participation of eminent experts, former and current competition authority heads and former judges. The seminar will assist the country's adjudicators to better understand and implement competition and consumer protection laws and policies for the wider benefit of the country's economic development.
