In collaboration with UNCTAD, Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) will train 26 port operators from the local port communities on Module 7 of the UNCTAD/TrainForTrade Port Training Programme, “Administrative and Legal Management”.
The module will be delivered by senior port specialists from the local port community, many of whom were freshly trained by UNCTAD/TrainForTrade Training of Trainers (Module 5 to 8) held in Cork, Ireland in May 2012.
Participants will gain knowledge in the subjects which include sources of port law, the legal status of port authorities, regulatory function of the port authority, land management and estate development, port police, risk prevention and port insurance, liability regime of ports and administrative function of the port authority.
