Side Event at the 69th Meeting of the CITES Standing Committee: Traceability for Sustainable Trade

ditc-ted-29112017-69-cites-350.jpgThe lunch side event (12h30-14h) will present and discuss the findings of the UNCTAD study that aims to contribute to the work programme of the Working Group on Traceability (Decision 17.152).

It will provide insights about what traceability is, identify best practices and lessons learned based on the information provided to the CITES Secretariat.

Finally, it will provide recommendations for consideration by the Working Group on Traceability.

This study has been developed by UNCTAD in close collaboration with the CITES Secretariat, and in coordination with the WG chairs Mexico and Switzerland.

At the 1st meeting of the Working Group (WG) on Traceability during SC69 on 30 November 2017, under the 4 agenda topic, the preliminary outputs of UNCTAD BioTrade consultancy in support of Decision 17.152 and 17.155 b) on traceability will be presented and discussed.
