Special Reform Legislation Discussion Webinar: Philippines Creative Industries Bill

18 February 2021
09:00 - 17:00 hrs.

The creative economy is recognized not only for its ability to employ a large number of people, but in demonstrating growth that even surpasses that of the industrial age. To maximize the potential of the Philippine creative economy and enhance its competitive advantage in the world, creative policies are necessary.

In October 2020, the House formed the Special Committee on Creative Industry and Performing Arts to focus on the passage of legislation to support the Philippine creative industries. To bring light to the work of the Committee, the AmCham-RESPOND Project organizes a Special Reform Legislation Discussion  with the special participation of UNCTAD as Keynote Speaker.

Questions of discussions:

  • What is the role of creative industries in the overall Philippine Development Plan and the long-term goals of the AmBisyon Natin 2040?
  • What are the programs currently in place to support the creative industries?
  • What does the Creative Industry Bill contain and how will it support the development of the Philippine creative economy?
  • What are the prospects of the passage of the measure in the current Congress?

Discussion focuses on the Creative Industry Bill pending in Congress and explored the above questions among legislators, government officials, and experts involved in developing the Creative Economy sector.
