Training Workshops on Competition and Consumer Protection Laws and Policies

The objective of the training workshop on competition law and policy to be held on 19, 21-22 November 2018 is to enhance enforcement capacities of recently recruited staff members of Tanzanian and Zanzibar Fair Competition Commissions. The workshop will cover investigation planning and collection of evidence in cartel cases. Trainers will also conduct case study exercises. Trainers include UNCTAD staff and competition experts from Jamaica, Kenya, the United Republic of Tanzania and Zambia.

The training workshop on consumer protection for Tanzanian and Zanzibar Fair Competition Commissions to be held on 22, 26-27 November 2018 aims at building enforcement capacities in the United Republic of Tanzania to better address current challenges facing consumers. The workshop will cover the United Nations Guidelines for Consumer Protection, emerging issues and challenges on consumer protection in a digital era, and facilitate exchange of experiences between consumer protection agencies in Africa regarding product safety, consumer protection in e-commerce, financial services etc. Trainers include UNCTAD staff and consumer protection enforcers from Kenya, South Africa, the United Republic of Tanzania and Zambia.
