UNCTAD speaks at the “Forum for quality: an integral vision for consumers” in Bogotá, Colombia

​UNCTAD’s COMPAL programme provides capacity building and technical cooperation on competition and consumer protection to seventeen Latin America countries with the support of SECO-Switzerland since 2003. COMPAL is currently in its third phase of implementation from 2015 to 2018. Colombia is a founding member of COMPAL and its Ministry of Trade, Industry and Tourism has invited UNCTAD to speak at the “Forum for quality: an integral vision for consumers,” which will take place on 25 May 2018 in Bogotá, Colombia.



The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Tourism is strengthening its quality infrastructure to best cater consumer needs and expectations. In this context, H.E. Mr. Daniel Arango Angel, Deputy Minister for Business Development of the Ministry for will host the “Forum for quality: an integral vision for consumers,” gathering national and international experts on 25 May 2018 in Bogotá, Colombia.
 
UNCTAD will speak on the role of consumer organizations in consumer policy making and enforcement, raising awareness of the many ways in which Governments, businesses and civil society can promote consumer protection in the provision of public and private goods and services, in line with the United Nations Guidelines for Consumer Protection.
 
The United Nations Industrial Organization, the Inter-American Development Bank, the United States Federal Trade Commission, as well as Colombian universities and consumer associations will also speak on the issues such of national quality systems and business seals.
