UNIDO’s West Africa Quality System Program (WAQSP) aims to support the implementation of the ECOWAS Quality Policy - ECOQUAL. It is funded by the European Union to the tune of 12 million Euros and implemented by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).

UNIDO invited UNCTAD, as the focal point for consumer protection matters within the United Nations system, to provide training to 80 national officials from ECOWAS member States on the recently revised United Nations Guidelines for Consumer Protection. In providing this training, UNCTAD will be accompanied by the Directorate General for Consumers of Portugal.

The Workshop on consumer protection will take place on 11 and 12 April 2017 in Lomé, Togo. Its aims is to sensitize consumers agencies, consumers associations and some national quality management consultants on the recently revised United Nations Guidelines for Consumers protection.
