The study tour is organized by the UNCTAD Virtual Institute (Vi) at the request of the State University Higher School of Economics (Moscow), the Moscow State Institute of International Relations, the St. Petersburg State University, the St. Petersburg State University of Economics, and our newest Russian member, the Russian Foreign Trade Academy.
During one week, students from the five universities will undergo tailored training on trade and development delivered by UNCTAD’s divisions and programmes, the WTO, the ITC, and the Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation to the UN.
The topics covered during the tour include: the international financial system, foreign direct investment (FDI), technology and innovation, trade remedies, trade in services and WTO dispute settlement. The programme will also feature discussions on the implementation of Russia’s membership in the WTO, a hands-on session on ITC’s market research and analysis tools, and a simulation exercise on FDI.
