The study tour is organized by the UNCTAD Virtual Institute (Vi, DGDS) at the request of six of its member universities from Colombia: Universidad EAFIT, Universidad ICESI, Universidad EAN, Universidad Javeriana, Universidad Jorge Tadeo Lozano and Universidad de la Sabana.
During the week students will undergo tailored training on trade and development delivered by UNCTAD, WTO, ITC, and the Permanent Missions of Colombia to the WTO and the UN.
The topics covered during the tour include: current developments in the world economy; foreign direct investment; technology and innovation; development and industrial policies and WTO regional agreements; Colombia’s trade policy reviews; and the Bali package. The programme will also include a hands-on session on ITC’s market research and analysis tools, and a simulation exercise on FDI.
