Webinar on duty-free quota-free (DFQF) market access and rules of origin for LDCs: how to use the UNCTAD handbook and database on GSP utilization: Ethiopia, Sudan and Yemen

The main objective of these webinars was to help LDCs seize the opportunities offered to access the markets of developed and developing countries by using the UNCTAD Handbook and Database on GSP.

UNCTAD handbooks are intended to help LDCs take advantage of the multilateral trade opportunities arising from the World Trade Organization (WTO) Hong Kong Ministerial Conference initiative on duty-free and quota-free market access (DFQF).

During the first session, the presentation focused on: How do I check if my product can benefit and UNCTAD database simulation?

  • Is my country a beneficiary of the DFQF scheme of my target market?
  • Is my product covered by the DFQF scheme of my target market?
  • What requirements does my product needs to meet?
  • Rules of origin (RO): does my product comply?
  • Other requirements, e.g. mode of shipment of the goods
  • How can I prove it? a documentary evidence

The second session focused on: DFQF. Which non-QUAD countries are PGC? and Other developed countries (Eurasian Customs Union; Norway, Switzerland, Turkey, United Kingdom, Developing countries, China, India, Thailand, Analysis of Utilization Rates).
