UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD) provides assistance to Burundi in its efforts to facilitate trade. Since January 2025, UNCTAD has been supporting countries of the EAC region in implementing the Trade Facilitation Agreement (WTO TFA), monitoring and evaluating their trade facilitation measures, with the aim of improving business climate for economic operators engaged in international trade in East Africa.
The workshop "Capacity building for the Burundi NTFC on the implementation of the WTO TFA" aims to meet the specific needs of Burundi by:
- Presenting the WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement to the members of Burundi’s NTFC.
- Reviewing Burundi’s progress in implementing TFA measures.
- Mastering the Reform Tracker as a tool for monitoring and evaluating trade facilitation reforms.
The five-day workshop is funded by the African Development Bank (AfDB) and the Multilateral Cooperation Center for Development Finance (MCDF); and is jointly organized between the NTFC of Burundi, the East African Community and UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD).
