The National Trade Facilitation of Rwanda will hold a meeting in Musanze on 16-17 September 2026. In this context, UNCTAD will provide an update on the implementation of the country’s WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement obligations and the use of UNCTAD’s Reform Tracker to coordinate and monitor trade facilitation reforms. UNCTAD will also assist on the simplification and transparency of the trade procedures thanks to the Trade Information Portal, implemented by UNCTAD.
In conjunction to the NTFC’s meeting, UNCTAD and Rwanda’s NTFC will hold a preliminary data validation workshop under the Climate-Smart Trade Facilitation project on 18 September 2026. Participants will review data collected along selected trade supply-chain routes, validate preliminary results generated by the CO₂ Emissions Calculator and identify any additional data or corrective actions required. The workshop will also strengthen national capacity to assess the effects of trade procedures on CO₂ emissions and identify reforms that can reduce trade time, costs and environmental impacts.
The activities will bring together members of the NTFC, representatives of border and regulatory agencies, and private-sector stakeholders.
