The Workshop on key issues in international investment policy reform: Paving the way to the World Investment Forum will bring together policymakers, legal experts, and practitioners to examine evolving trends in international investment governance. Organized in cooperation with the Cairo Regional Centre for International Commercial Arbitration (CRCICA), the session aims to foster informed dialogue on how the international investment framework can adapt to contemporary economic, legal, and sustainability challenges. The workshop will open with welcome remarks followed by expert presentations on the need to reform international investment agreements (IIAs) and better align them with sustainable development goals. Discussions will cover evolving approaches to responsible investment governance and recent trends and innovations in Investor-State Dispute Settlement, alongside practical insights from arbitration practitioners. Interactive polls and Q&A sessions will promote participant engagement, and the event will conclude by emphasizing UNCTAD’s Guiding Principles for IIA Reform as a roadmap for advancing reform and shaping the agenda for the 2026 World Investment Forum.
