UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD), in partnership with the Government of Namibia, is convening a high-level workshop titled Unlocking Value across Critical Energy Transition Minerals and Beyond: Strategic Opportunities and Policy Directions.

This timely workshop will bring together public and private sector leaders to explore strategic industrial opportunities in sectors related to the clean energy transition. With a focus on domestic value addition, export growth, and import substitution, participants will identify high-potential industrial products and shape policy directions to drive inclusive and sustainable industrial development.

Workshop Highlights:

  • Keynote addresses from senior officials of the National Planning Commission, UNCTAD, and the United Nations Resident Coordinator for Namibia

  • Sector-specific sessions covering over 300 industrial products

  • Stakeholder interviews, product scoring exercises, and strategy development sessions on industrial policy

Structured in two phases, the workshop will begin with technical discussions and priority-setting for industrial diversification, followed by policy-oriented sessions focused on long-term strategic planning.

This workshop marks a key milestone in a broader initiative supporting Namibia, Zambia, and Madagascar in harnessing the potential of Critical Energy Transition Minerals (CETMs) such as copper, lithium, and cobalt to build resilient, future-oriented economies.
