Data Protection and Privacy Notice for the mobile apps “myACTA” and “myACTA Business”
This data protection and privacy notice describes UNCTAD’s policy concerning the gathering and sharing of personal data through the mobile apps “myACTA” and “myACTA Business”.
Secretary-General’s Bulletin
UNCTAD is guided by a set of principles on personal data protection and privacy that were established by the UN Secretary General’s Bulletin enshrining the Data protection and privacy policy for the Secretariat of the United Nations (ST/SGB/2024/1).
Personal data
The “myACTA” and “myACTA Business” mobile apps only collect personal data with your knowledge.
If you sign up to use “myACTA Business”, you will be asked to provide personal information such as your name, e-mail address, and country you do business in, as part of your personal profile.
UNCTAD may use the personal data you provide for the purposes for which it is collected, such as:
- Contacting you – either in response to a query or suggestion, or to inform you of changes to the mobile app or the policies governing it.
- Storing your profile and preferences to enable you to use the mobile apps “myACTA” and “myACTA Business”.
Data on transactions carried out by your business
UNCTAD stores this data solely for the purpose of providing you transaction management features through “myACTA Business”.
How does UNCTAD protect your personal data?
We never sell any information collected through the “myACTA” and “myACTA Business” mobile apps. We do not share personal data collected through these mobile apps with any third parties, with the exception of information transferred securely to a third-party service provider, for the purpose of secure data storage and processing. We employ a range of technologies and security measures to protect the information maintained on our systems from loss, misuse, unauthorized access or disclosure, alteration, or destruction.
All UNCTAD staff who have access to, and are associated with the processing of personal data, are obliged to comply with the rules concerning the classification and handling of all United Nations data, including with respect to the confidentiality of personal data they handle in their official capacity. These include the rules enshrined in ST/SGB/2024/1.
How long does the UNCTAD retain your personal data?
Your personal data will be kept only as long as it is necessary for the purposes set out in this notice. How long personal information is stored for, depends on the personal information in question and what it is being used for, as well as whether there is any administrative or regulatory requirement for retaining the personal information.
Notification of changes
The present notice is subject to amendment at the discretion of UNCTAD. Any changes will be posted on this page.
Privileges and immunities
Nothing in or relating to the present notice shall be deemed a waiver, express or implied, of the privileges and immunities of the United Nations, including its subsidiary organs.
