The Director of UNCTAD's Division on Globalization and Development Strategies has warned the delegates attending the General Assembly that "misguided" steps are limiting recovery from the global slowdown. He urged measures to boost income equality so that consumer demand is stimulated.
UNCTAD-SECO public debt management project in Indonesia on track

The Ministry of Finance of Indonesia last year requested UNCTAD to provide support in strengthening the country's capacities in debt management against a backdrop of rising central government debt levels -- increasing from USD 120 billion at the beginning of the decade to USD 170 billion at the end of 2009 -- although the debt ratios are still within conventional sustainable limits.

Ports are likely to be affected directly and indirectly by climate changes, such as rising sea levels, extreme weather events and rising temperatures. Climate change and its impact on ports will be the theme of the upcoming Expert Meeting that will take place from the 29th to the 30th of September.
