Publication on non-tariff measures detailing developing-countries' perspective

A new UNCTAD publication reports on the effects of non-tariff measures in the developing world. The publication, "Non-tariff Measures to Trade: Economic and Policy Issues for Developing Countries," seeks to inform policymakers and other stakeholders about issues relating to non-tariff measures, which pose ever more challenges to international trade policies.

The report finds that G20 members have continued to honour their pledge not to introduce new restrictive policies for international investment. However, it cautions policymakers that foreign direct investment (FDI) may not only be limited through formal policy changes, but also through individual administrative decisions and informal public signals that are beyond the scope of the report.
