World merchandise exports grew by 2%, while services trade recorded 5% increase in 2013

Estimates of global international trade for 2013 are published today. These statistics cover annual and quarterly merchandise and services transactions - up to q4 2013. Furthermore, seasonally adjusted quarterly statistics are now available for the volume of international merchandise commerce.

According to preliminary estimates by UNCTAD and World Trade Organization (WTO), the world quarterly merchandise exports volume decreased by 0.7% in the third quarter of 2013 compared with the quarter before. At the same time, world merchandise imports volume growth remained positive at 0.3%.
World exports of commercial services up 5% in the second quarter of 2013

According to preliminary estimates by UNCTAD and WTO, world exports of services grew by 5% in the second quarter of 2013, as compared with the same quarter of 2012 (balance-of-payments basis, current prices). The estimates point to a continued recovery in the global exchange of services.

The publication, "Non-tariff Measures to Trade: Economic and Policy Issues for Developing Countries," seeks to inform policymakers and other stakeholders about issues relating to non-tariff measures, which pose ever more challenges to international trade policies.
World services exports grew by 4% in the first quarter of 2013, as Europe's exports continued to recover

According to preliminary estimates by the WTO and UNCTAD, in the first quarter of 2013, world exports of services grew by 4%, as compared with the same quarter of the year before. The estimates keep pointing to a recovery of global services exchanges.
Tanzania: New joint project of the Cluster financed by Switzerland

A 3-year project of the United Nations Inter-Agency Cluster on Trade and Productive Capacity on linkages between horticulture small producers and the tourism sector is being prepared in Tanzania, with resources provided by Switzerland (SECO). The operations will start at the beginning of 2014.
South–South Trade Monitor No. 2 now available

UNCTAD South–South Trade Monitor No. 2 reports on general trends with regard to the magnitude and dynamics of South–South exports, and their sectoral composition. South–South merchandise exports in 2011 reached US$4 trillion, or a quarter of the world’s exports. In the past two decades, all developing regions have significantly increased their exports to the South.
