Eighteen participants attended the sessions on international competition law and compliance from 30 June to 11 July 2014. The workshop was organized in the context of the WAEMU - UNCTAD project on competition and was delivered by the School of Management and Law of the Zurich University of Applied Sciences.
The joint project between WAEMU (West African Economic and Monetary Union) and the Competition and Consumer Policies Branch of UNCTAD has started its activities in 2012. This aims at building capacities in competition law and policy.
In this context, UNCTAD has organized several training sessions for competition authorities of the 8 member States of WAEMU and the WAEMU Secretariat. The general aspects of competition law enforcement and compliance are covered by a Certificate of Advanced Studies, delivered in 2013 and 2014 by the Zurich School of Management and Law and presented by speakers from the private sector, the civil society and academia.
Specific chapters of the WAEMU community competition rules covered during a training session to be further organized in one of the member countries.
