UNCTAD ASYCUDA Programme hosted a delegation from the General Directorate of Customs of Côte d'Ivoire led by Mr. Issa Coulibaly, Director General of Customs.

The visit was an opportunity to enhance cooperation between UNCTAD and Côte d'Ivoire, which is the first country in Africa to have entrusted ASYCUDAWorld for the modernization of their customs procedures. (ASYCUDA has been operational throughout the customs territory of the country since 2009)
The meeting covered:
Signature of an addendum to the ongoing ASYCUDAWorld technical assistance project.
The new addendum provides for further capacity building of the national team and specific developments to implement the agreement on trade facilitation adopted at the 9th WTO Ministerial Conference in BALI on 7 December 2013. The duration of the project is 3 years.
Discussion on a memorandum of understanding on developing and integrating the Côte d'Ivoire litigation/offence reports ("PVS") into ASYCUDAWorld.
The MoU was presented. It is expected that Côte d'Ivoire customs' sign it in the coming weeks.
Presentation of a potential new project to create a regional ASYCUDA center in Abidjan.
This center will provide technical and functional assistance to the 10 countries using ASYCUDA in West Africa.
A working paper was developed and presented to the delegation of Côte d'Ivoire delegation for further discussion in the coming weeks. A draft project will be prepared.
