Registration for the eighth meeting of the World Investment Forum to be held from 16 to 20 October in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, is now open. Interested participants are invited to register here.
The World Investment Forum is a multi-stakeholder gathering, designed to facilitate dialogue and action on investment and development challenges. The theme of this year’s forum is “Investing in sustainable development”.
It’s recognized by governments and business leaders as the pre-eminent global gathering for investment partnerships and policymaking, providing a platform for interaction among key stakeholders.
They include state leaders and ministers, parliamentarians, heads of investment promotion agencies, investment treaty negotiators, representatives of civil society, international standard setters and chief executive officers of global companies.
It will also draw impact investors and foundations, stock exchange executives, pension and sovereign wealth fund managers, academics, representatives of family businesses and entrepreneurs.
Tackling investment challenges
Discussions at the forum will aim to address key investment challenges caused by the current multiple global crises. These include the need to invest in health for all, food security, the energy transition, supply chain resilience and productive capacity growth, particularly in the poorest countries.
Taking place ahead of the COP28 climate conference, the forum will include a dedicated track on promoting climate finance and investment.
The United Nations General Assembly has requested for concrete recommendations on promoting investments for sustainable development, including in sectors strategic to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Outcomes from the forum will feed into deliberations at the General Assembly and at other major United Nations conferences and summits.
150 high-profile events
The forum will feature about 150 high-profile events. They include a global leaders investment summit, ministerial round tables, an investment promotion conference and an international investment agreements conference.
Also planned are a global sustainable stock exchanges dialogue, a round table for institutional investors for sustainable development and a family business and sustainable development conference.
Other planned events are minister and business executive dialogues, multi-stakeholder sessions on key themes, awards ceremonies and launches of several global initiatives for investment in sustainable development
