The four are the latest to be certified by UNCTAD to deliver the training course on information economy statistics. Since the course began as a pilot project in 2007, some 152 producers of ICT statistics from 98 countries have been trained.
To expand the network of experts able to conduct capacity-building in information economy statistics in different languages and regions, the ICT Analysis Section of UNCTAD's Division on Technology and Logistics organized this latest "train the trainers" session in Valencia, Spain, from 4 to 8 March. The participants came from Lebanon, Morocco, the Russian Federation and Spain. These new graduates are statistical experts with lecturing experience who will be able to deliver future UNCTAD training courses on information economy statistics.
At least six additional UNCTAD training courses on information economy statistics are scheduled for the next three years.
The training of trainers was hosted by Devstat, a Valencia-based firm that specializes in statistical expertise. The course was supported financially by the Government of Sweden via the Swedish International Development Agency. The content of the training was developed and delivered in collaboration with the International Telecommunication Union and UNCTAD's TrainForTrade programme.
