Specialists from governments, international organizations, and universities will meet today and Tuesday to share knowledge on how to build local expertise among businesses and institutions in developing countries so that they can expand trade.
The ad-hoc expert meeting, called Building Skills in Developing Countries: Training, Networking and ICT (information and communication technology) will feature four panels in an informal format. It will begin with an introduction on the development of knowledge and skills for trade, followed by an exchange of experiences and expertise on the strengthening of training and teaching capacities for trade. Another session will review ways to enhance analytical capacity on trade and strengthen the links between research and policy making. The last panel will discuss future perspectives, particularly in the framework of the new Aid for Trade initiative.
The meeting, to be held at the Palais des Nations, has been organised by UNCTAD´s TrainForTrade programme, its Virtual Institute, and its Training Course on Key Issues on the International Economic Agenda. Experts will be attending from both developed and developing countries.
