Financial accounting and development at intergovernmental events this week

Geneva, Switzerland, 2 November 2015

ISAR32, a meeting of the intergovernmental working group of experts on International Standards of Accounting and Reporting, will be hosted by UNCTAD on 4–6 November 2015.

The 32nd session of ISAR will focus on high quality and comparable reporting as a key element to financial stability to achieve Sustainable Development Goals.

It will be opened by the UNCTAD Secretary-General Mukhisa Kituyi, with a keynote address by the Chair of the Financial Accounting Standards Board of the United States of America Russell G. Golden. More than 200 participants are expected to attend.

This meeting is preceded by a workshop on International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS) organized by UNCTAD on 3 November. ISAR32 and the IPSAS workshop will take place in Room XVIII of the Palais des Nations, Geneva.

For more than 30 years, ISAR has been the focal point within the United Nations for issues of corporate transparency and accounting. It addresses financial and non-financial reporting challenges to help developing countries and economies in transition improve their accounting infrastructures, comply with international requirements and thus improve transparency, promote financial stability and attract investment.
