Geneva, Switzerland, 13 May 2024

Dear media representatives,

You are cordially invited you to join the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the UN Trade and Development. This milestone event (Geneva, 12-14 June 2024) will include a variety of programmes and discussions centered on trade and development.

The celebration will feature a Global Leaders Forum, inaugurated by UN Secretary-General António Guterres and Secretary-General Rebeca Grynspan, alongside Heads of State, Nobel Laureates, and prominent economists. Secretary-General Grynspan will lead discussions on past accomplishments and future goals, underscoring the importance of placing development at the heart of economic decisions and amplifying the voices of developing countries.

The Forum's theme, "Charting a New Development Course in a Changing World", will highlight UNCTAD's integrated approach to global trade and development. The discussions will encompass finance, technology, investment, and sustainable development, with a special focus on developing countries, including Africa, least developed countries, small island developing states, and landlocked nations. This event provides a platform to explore innovative solutions with leading policy makers and thinkers from around the world.
